I know you’ve had times when I didn’t have enough money in my mobile wallet to pay for grocery, transportation, and goods at the supermarket. And Fuliza has always been of great help. So in this guide, I’ll tell you everything you should know about Fuliza, including how to opt out of it.
To opt out of Fuliza, dial the *234# via your Safaricom line and choose option 7. Safaricom will opt you out of the service and send you a confirmation message that you’ve opted out. There’s also the option to rejoin the program if wish to.
Fuliza can be helpful when you don’t have enough money to spend. But it can also be addictive if you don’t have good spending habits.
I suggest that you review your priorities to determine whether you’d need the service or just opt out permanently altogether.

That is it! You are now out of the Fuliza M-PESA service!
Why You Will Like the Fuliza Service
Fuliza is the most obtainable and fair money lending service in Kenya, as it only asks for 1% interest from the money borrowed.
As a Safaricom customer and Mpesa user, you will be able to use the Fuliza service to buy airtime, send money to another contact, and even pay for goods and services via “Lipa na Mpesa”.
Who is Eligible for the Fuliza Service?
To use the Fuliza M-PESA service, you must be a Kenyan, registered using an ID, passport, or military ID.
You also must be in the network for at least 6 months (have used a Safaricom line for at least 6 months) for you to be eligible.
Customers who have been in the network will have a Ksh. 0 limit, which you get upon registration.
To grow your Fuliza limit, you will need to transact through Mpesa more frequently and pay each loan you take on time.
Who is Not Eligible for the Fuliza Service?
Sadly, Safaricom users with foreign passports will not be able to register for the Fuliza service since the service is only available to Kenyan citizens.
Fuliza Activation Policies
You can activate Fuliza on more than one Safaricom line. The company is yet to set a limit on the number of lines you can register Fuliza.
That is because they treat opened Fuliza account as a new account, even if the ID card used is the same.
Each Safaricom line you register qualifies for Fuliza Mpesa. Safaricom treats each Fuliza account registered with the same ID card differently, so it will qualify for funds depending on the transaction activities within the six months of registration.
Fuliza Mpesa Charges
Fuliza will charge 1% of the borrowed amount as an access fee, as well as impose a maintenance fee charged the following day at midnight.
In case a customer repays the borrowed amount before midnight, Safaricom will only charge access and maintenance fees for the unpaid amount.
Below is a Fuliza tariff table to help you understand better:

Final Thoughts
Fuliza is a Safaricom service introduced in 2019 as a partnership of Safaricom, Kenya Commercial Bank, and NCBA bank.
The service is accessible only to customers who use Safaricom lines.
With the service, you can overstate your Mpesa balance and transact even with insufficient funds. But how much you can overstate will depend on your overall credit score.
As for repayment, Safaricom deducts the overstated balance from your account when you have sufficient funds in your Mpesa wallet.
